October Final Stretch Update

Dos Owls ODIN Update

Hi! We just came back from Shenzhen, China and we would like to share our current status and future production timeline.

The trip was productive and we were able to make good progress, but there are still many more tasks before shipment.

Notable Accomplishments in the Last 6 Weeks:

  1. Quad-core chip upgrade
  2. Metal and Plastic Tooling for Casing
  3. WiFi and Bluetooth Chip Optimization
  4. Android Application Testing and Fixes

Shenzhen Trip

In addition to visiting the engineers (mechanical, electrical and software), we also met with a logistics company and carrying pouch, AC adapter and packaging box manufacturers. The logistics company works with Pebble and Moment Lens, so they are very professional. The carrying pouch will be sturdy and the box will be professionally done. The AC adapter will be 2.25 meters long and will be tested with an array of global safety certifications.

Also, after talking with the optical engineers, we are expecting the lumens to be 5 to 15 lumens brighter than first estimated, 115 lumens. I think you will be impressed with the optical power. The only downside to the higher lumens is that ODIN will consume more power in battery mode. In order to control battery consumption, we added a function within the software to control the brightness. Some pictures from the trip are below:

Future Timeline

Many of you are waiting for the shipment of ODIN, so we have included our internal production timeline below. As you can see, there are a lot of different tasks and all those tasks need to be done on a timely basis. We are still on track for December delivery but we have little room for errors or delays at this moment. We will do our best to deliver a quality product on a timely basis.

Best regards,
Alex Yoo
